Information about Screenings
How long will the screening take?
The screening session lasts no more than 20 minutes. The purpose of the screening is not to diagnose a disorder, but to identify areas of concern and need for possible evaluation. How can I schedule a free screening? Contact us at 321-972-3960.
How much does the screening cost?
The screening is FREE. If a formal evaluation is recommended, contact your insurance provider for information regarding your benefits and coverage.
Do I need a physician’s referral for the free screening?
No. You will only need a referral/doctor’s order if more information is needed and a full evaluation is recommended.
Who would benefit from a speech therapy screening?
If your child is having difficulty with:
- Language (communication/vocabulary)
- Speech (articulation)
- Hearing
- Stuttering
- Voice
- Social Skills
- Swallowing
- Tongue thrusting
Who would benefit from a physical therapy screening?
If your child is having difficulty with:
- Delayed or abnormal walking (toe walking)
- Developmental skills
- Abnormal body movement
- Tight neck muscles (Torticollis)
- Balance or coordination
- Other gross motor concerns
- Delayed rolling or crawling
- Poor overall muscle strength/control
Who would benefit from an occupational therapy screening?
If your child is having difficulty with:
- Play skills compared to other same age children
- Feeding
- Sensory processing
- Sensitivity to different type clothing
- Aggressive acting out behavior
- Poor attention span
- Handwriting
- Coordination
- Dressing and Bathing
- Utensil usage
- Easily frustrated with manipulation of small objects
- Following people or objects with their eyes
